Protect Displays in Public Areas with a TV Enclosure
Share
High-traffic areas in airports, hotels, universities, sports complexes, hospitals, and shopping centers often have flat panel televisions and computer displays hung in different areas to provide information to guests. One common concern businesses have about using HD televisions and computer displays in public areas is the risk associated with potential damage, theft, and vandalism. It is easy to overcome these issues by protecting displays used in public areas with the right size TV enclosure.
A TV enclosure is a protective box-like design that fits securely around flat panel TVs and computer displays to completely enclose them. It is important you do not get this confused with TV screen protectors. TV screen protectors are normally used in private locations at work or home. The screen protector is designed to help protect the television display screen from accidental damage from minor impacts but does not enclose the TV to protect it against other forms of damage, vandalism, or theft. Another way to help distinguish between enclosures and screen protectors is by remembering protective television enclosures are primarily used by businesses, while screen protectors are normally used by individuals.
Some Industries Use TV Enclosures in Other Locations besides Public Areas
In certain industries, like the hotel and hospitality industry, TV enclosures are used in guest rooms and other private areas where non-employees have access. Enclosures help lower the risks associated with guests accidentally causing damage to televisions, attempting to steal them, or vandalizing them since guests cannot be monitored when they are in their rooms.
Many universities also use television enclosures to protect televisions placed in common areas of the dormitories, as well as in dorm rooms when the room is fully furnished for the students. Universities have limited budgets, and replacing televisions can quickly become a major expense and hassle unless steps are taken to protect their assets by using television enclosures.
Installing a TV Enclosure and Other Options
The flat panel TV enclosure may be used for displays mounted directly on the wall, or anchored in place to a desk, countertop, or other flat surface. There are both standard and custom-built enclosure options because not all TV and computer display designs are alike. You are able to request custom-designed TV protection enclosures to ensure you satisfy ADA requirements in regards to how far a display can extend outwards into a room.
Television enclosures are customizable to match your exact specifications. You can upgrade standard enclosures with such features as ceiling mounts, with or without cooling fans, USB or separate power supply controlled fans, anti-glare film, security screws, special plastics and colors, filters for harsh environments, anti-ligature sloped tops, and sealed for outdoor usage.
It is important to mention that enclosures sealed for outdoor usage should be used with specially designed outdoor televisions and that they are not guaranteed to protect TVs from environmental damage (i.e. moisture, humidity, water) when they are used with indoor TVs installed outside. The television enclosure manufacturer takes no responsibility if you misuse your TV in any way, or if it is installed in locations where it is not meant to be used.
